Academy Program

The Academy program at KMSC is run by our Director of Coaching and Player Development, Zach Papanikolaou. Coach Zach was inducted into the UW-Green Bay Hall of Fame in 1996, Inducted into the Wisconsin Soccer Association Hall of Fame in 1999 and holds the single game record for goals and points in a game at UW-Milwaukee. Coach Zach has been coaching for over 25 years and coached both boys and girls varsity teams at Wauwatosa West and girls varsity at Pius High School (ranked 2nd in the State). Coach Zach is a USSF (B) licensed coach. The goal of the Academy program at KMSC is to emphasize the technical and tactical development of soccer skills of all players in the U-6 through U-12 age groups and promote the growth and training of all coaches at KMSC. His duties with KMSC include:
  • Run a free one week clinic in the summer for both the recreation and select teams. There will be a maximum of approximately 24 players at each session.
  • Direct instructional clinics for the Recreation level coaches prior to both the Fall and Spring seasons and assist both Recreation and Select level coaches on available weekends.
  • Compile written material and assemble age specific practice sessions for the Fall and Spring seasons as a guide for the Recreation level coaches.
  • Attend training sessions of Recreation level teams to observe coaching methods. Offer suggestions for improvement of the sessions as needed, reinforcing the need for technical expertise at the lower age groups.
  • Coach one practice per week during the fall and spring season for every recreational team in the U7 through U10 with an emphasis on individual soccer skills and ball control. Coaches are required to attend these sessions to improve their technical skills.
  • Run a free 8 week winter skills session held at a local grade school gym for all players in the U7 through U10 age groups.
  • Project a positive image of KMSC and the sport of soccer at all times and uphold the values of fair play, sportsmanship and enjoyment of the game for all members of KMSC. Report to the Board any observed detrimental conduct of any coach, player or parent that does not properly represent the interest or policies of KMSC, Wisconsin Youth Soccer Association or the United States Youth Soccer Association.
KMSC is committed to offering top level soccer instruction while keeping our registration fees affordable. We strongly feel we offer the best value in the area for your children. Below is the schedule for Fall 2007/spring 2008.
